Tatiana's photography is in search of a visual language to enhance human development, a photography that seeks the humanity existing through different socio-cultural identities, with emphasis on inequality, human rights and environment issues. She specialises in in-depth documentary projects, prioritising her work with NGOs, Foundations and travel photography.
With her documentary photography she was nominated for the All Roads Photography Program of National Geographic Society (2007, 2008 and 2011). In 2009 she received a Documentary Award - Humanity Photo Awards, in China (by UNESCO) and the Brazilian 31º Vladimir Herzog Journalistic Award of Amnesty and Human Rights - Honorable Mention Prize with a written and photographed reportage about sexual exploitation of children and teenagers.
Tatiana Cardeal earned her bachelor's degree in the 90's, worked for more than 10 years as art director/graphic designer for large Brazilian magazines and newspapers publishers. She received three April Journalism Awards (Prêmio Abril de Jornalismo 2000, 2003 and 2004) and the Esso Journalism Award (Prêmio Esso 2003).
